Sombra Cosmetics seeks an experienced chemist who has worked with skin care formulations including lotions, serums, creams, OTCs, cleansers, and other skin care related products. Responsibilities:
- Formulate skin care cosmetic prototypes including performing stability testing, troubleshooting, and other activities related to formulation development.
- Research and develop ingredients and formulations for skin care and OTC topical analgesics.
- Develop new product concepts.
- Develop prototype formulations from scratch with existing raw material inventory and improve on existing formulas.
- Create formulations that address private label customer requirements.
- Handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Adhere to cGMP quality standards, keeping a lab notebook and following lab procedures with attention to details.
- Interact extensively with internal staff and with customers, and log customer adverse reactions.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols.
- Train and supervise others in mixing small samples and pilot batches of new and old formulations for tests and customer sampling.
Education & Experience:
- A B.S. degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related sciences with at least three years of formulation experience and two additional years working with skin and personal care products.
Skills & Abilities:
- Skin care and personal care product knowledge is essential.
- Essential communication (verbal, written) and interpersonal skills for all level of employees.
- Experience with FDA regulations governing OTCs and personal care products.
- Ability to formulate with materials on hand.
- Knowledge of cGMP.
